In a recent interview on Breakfast with Martin Bester, Dr Nasiphi Moya, the newly elected Tshwane Mayor, made it clear that unity is her top priority, declaring, "If I can't unite Tshwane, I'll quit," underscoring her commitment to uniting the city's diverse communities.

Dr Moya, originally from Bikwana, a small village near Mthatha, reflected on her journey from the Eastern Cape to leading one of Gauteng's most complex municipalities.

Her career has prepared her for the challenges ahead, and she is focused on improving service delivery and solidifying coalition governance in Tshwane.

Her election was not without controversy, characterised by shifting political alliances involving the Democratic Alliance (DA), ActionSA, and the African National Congress (ANC).

Dr Moya acknowledged that her election reflected ActionSA's reassessment of its role in the coalition, placing service delivery as a priority.

While recognising the efforts of her predecessor, Cilliers Brink, particularly in financial stabilisation, Dr Moya aims to build on these achievements, focusing on key issues like infrastructure improvement, street lighting, and waste collection.

She emphasised the importance of Tshwane's partnerships with both private and public entities, crucial in bolstering municipal efforts during financial constraints.
