Waste-pickers collect as much as 80% of South Africa's waste

Every morning, many South African waste-pickers wake up at the crack of dawn to help keep our country clean.
Do we give our waste-pickers enough credit? We don't think so.
According to Business Day, waste-pickers collect as much as 80% of the country's waste, as well as packaging and paper material.
Johannesburg has a total of 6,000 waste-pickers who clean our areas, but also make a living from the waste.

Luyanda Hlatshwayo wakes up at 4am every morning to sort out the rubbish. He and his friends also sell certain materials.
Martin Bester reiterated that we must give them more credit because they wake up very early to clean and to re-use certain materials. Without them, our country would be a complete mess.
