A brave lioness risked her life to save her cub after it was swept away in a river current.

A mother's love knows no bounds, and this is true even for animals in the wild.
A recent video showing a courageous lioness rescuing her cub from a river has melted the hearts of thousands of South Africans.
Callum Robertson, an experienced safari guide at Sabi Sands, was exploring the Kruger National Park in search of a pride of lions with cubs he knew were in the area.

Robertson's search eventually ended when he and his group came across the pride on a riverbank, where the river was flooded with raging water and strong currents.
According to Latest Sightings, Robertson realised that the pride was planning to cross the river.
One by one, the lions swam across, struggling against the current.
"We held our breath. One of my guests couldn’t even watch and had her head tucked between her legs," Robertson told Latest Sightings.
During the crossing, Robertson noticed that one of the cubs had unfortunately been swept away by the strong current.

Without hesitation, the cub’s mother jumped into the water to save it.
The lioness and her cub were carried downstream before the mother managed to grab her cub, turn around, and swim back to the riverbank.
She quickly made her way to shore, placing her cub safely on the sandy bank.
