WATCH: Passengers forced to jump out of burning bus in Centurion

Several passengers were left injured after a bus en route to Centurion caught fire.
Horror struck on Wednesday morning in Centurion when a Putco bus caught fire on the R573, forcing passengers to jump out of the bus.
The video went viral on social media and was shared by crime activist Yusuf Ambramjee on X.

Public Utility Transport Corporation (Putco) confirmed that it was one of its busses that was engulfed in flames on Wednesday morning while en route to Gauteng’s Centurion, Pretoria.

The now-viral video shows passengers jumping out of the bus' windows, trying to escape the flames.
Unfortunately, the incident left 22 people injured.
Putco spokesperson Lindokuhle Xulu confirmed confirmed that is was a Putco bus and that their immediate priority was the well-being of passengers affected by the event.
“Putco regrets to confirm an incident involving a Putco bus, which caught fire while en route at R573, Ditshweneng. We can confirm that we have provided prompt passenger assistance, particularly in addressing their injuries,” he said.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, but an investigation is underway says Xulu.

"Investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the accident. We are actively collaborating with relevant authorities to gather all necessary information. Safety is our top priority. We are committed to ensuring that every aspect of this incident is thoroughly reviewed and addressed.
"Our thoughts are with 22 passengers who were injured, and we extend our gratitude to the emergency response teams. These include private and state ambulances for their swift actions and support during this challenging time."
