WATCH: Stellenbosch University choir gives powerful performance on plane

While on board a plane, the Stellenbosch University choir treated passengers to an impromptu performance.

The Stellenbosch University choir left passengers with chills after their impromptu performance on a plane on the morning of 22 August.
Video footage shows the choir performing a mash-up of Bright Blue's 'Weeping' and South Africa's national anthem, 'Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika'.

"There were different cultures on the flight so we decided to perform the historical Weeping melody as we all resonate with it," choir conducted André van der Merwe told News24.
According to News24, the choir was on board a South African Airways flight to Cape Town when staff asked them to sing.

Conductor André van der Merwe also confirmed that the choir was returning from a trip to Nigeria after performing at the funeral of Princess Margaret Obaigbena.
