"We must be relentless in our pursuit of a response to the pandemic" - Professor Glenda Gray

Professor Glenda Gray is the first female President and CEO of the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) and joined Breakfast with Martin Bester for an informative chat on Monday.
Glenda Gray is the Chair of the Research Committee on COVID-19, providing scientific evidence and experience to the Minister of Health and the National Coronavirus Command Council.
Gray also spearheads the SAMRC funding for COVID-19.
Forbes named Gray one of Africa’s 50 Most Powerful Women and TIME as one of the world’s 100 Most Influential people.
Gray joins Breakfast with Martin Bester to discuss the coronavirus statistics in Gauteng.

Gray emphasises that everyone has different experiences with the virus. Healthy young people should have an outcome that is mild or asymptomatic and older people with pre-existing conditions will be more in danger.
Professor Gray adds that you cannot control the pandemic without medical intervention.
However, as South African citizens are being careful and looking closely at symptoms, professor Gray does mention that very little other flues will give you a loss of taste and smell. Nausea and diarrhea will also be present because it is a multi-organ disease.
