UFC Middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis joined Breakfast with Martin Bester live in studio after his victory against Sean Strickland.
South Africans were booming with pride on Sunday, 21 January, when Pretoria local Dricus du Plessis was named the UFC Middleweight champion after a split decision win against Sean Strickland at UFC 297.
The much-anticipated fight took place at the Scotiabank Arena in Ontario, Canada.
"Nou weet hulle wat ons weet," said Dricus 'Stillknocks' du Plessis after he made history with his 48-47 win, with two judges in the South African's favour.

Du Plessis is unbeaten in the UFC since his series debut in October 2020, racking up six successive wins to become the top contender in the division.
The MMA star returned to South Africa on Thursday, 25 January, at OR Tambo International Airport at 07:45, with many excited fans awaiting his return.
On Tuesday, 6 February, Du Plessis made his way to the Jacaranda FM studio to join Breakfast with Martin Bester live.

Du Plessis spoke about his overwhelming joy and gratitude after his winning moment and all the love he received from South Africans.
He also revealed to Martin Bester what Strickland told him after the fight.

"He [Strickland] told me I won that fight even before they announced my win," said Du Plessis.
Much like the 2023 Rugby World Cup, the MMA star's fight at the UFC 297 again united South Africans.
Jacaranda FM's own Martin Bester also wrote a song for Du Plessis to celebrate this enormous achievement.
