People may take pictures of you or your children if you are in public, however, if you do not agree to it, it is unlawful.
We see photos of children on social media daily, however, do the parents have the right to post photos of their children and what can you do as a parent if other people post photos of your children? We have all the answers.

Child and family lawyer Megan Harrington-Johnson joined Breakfast with Martin Bester to talk about your rights and the rights of your children regarding photos and images of them online.
A recent article pointed out to what to do if a stranger takes photos of your child in a public space. What to do about friends and family that post photos of your children on social media without asking?
"The golden rule is - don't post pictures of your children or other people's children. It's a dangerous thing", says Harrington-Johnson.
"If you are in public - people may take pictures of you. However, if you are not comfortable with it - you can ask the person to remove it from their camera."

"As soon as a child has the desire, they can tell their parents to not take pictures of them - they have the rights to do so."
"Schools are private spaces so parents must give consent if they want their children to be photographed."
"Celebrities are public figures - so they may be photographed in public - and they know it."
"If you are involved in an incident where you are a part of - you may photograph the moment. If the incident is taking place in the public - you can film it."
"If you are in a working environment and a part of a meeting - you may record the interaction or meeting. If you are not apart of the meeting - you are not allowed to record or film the moment.
"Always remember - if you are in a public space - you can film and photograph the moment - and only if you are part of it."
