Will Smith releases "official statement" after Jada Pinkett-Smith controversy

Will Smith released a tongue-in-cheek "official statement" after his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, opened up about the pair's separation.
During a recent interview, actor Jada Pinkett-Smith revealed that she has been separated from her husband, Will Smith, since 2016 (six years before the infamous Oscars Slap).
"By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying," she said in a clip from an interview to promote her new memoir, 'Worthy'.
In response to the controversial revelation, which has been making headlines across the globe, actor Will Smith released a cheeky "official statement".

In the statement, shared on the award-winning actor's Instagram, Smith can be seen sitting on the couch looking serious.
He starts his "statement" by saying, "I've got something for you, my opinion on...", but then he sneezes, and the camera zooms out to absurdly show random scenic clips, and then it abruptly stops.

The couple repeatedly denied rumours of affairs and an open marriage for many years.
According to recent interview footage, their separation has endured up until the present day, although the pair remain legally married.

Asked why the couple had chosen to conceal their separation, Pinkett Smith said they were "just not... ready yet" and "still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in partnership".
"We just got deep love for each other, and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us," Pinkett Smith told People magazine in a separate interview.
