After being friends, having first met at Wits University in 2010, and dated for one year... he finally asked me to marry him on the 29th of February 2020, and I said yes!
That kicked off our excitement as we planned to have our wedding on the 29th of August 2020. Little did we know that all our plans would be brought to a screeching halt. Towards the end of March 2020, we all received the announcement that there would be a National Lockdown. My fiancé had to leave the country to renew his permit in his native country, Zimbabwe.
Having booked a return flight to make a quick trip there and back, his flight back unfortunately got grounded and he was not able to return as only South African citizens could return. Like many of us, we assumed this would be the case for only a couple of months. However, in the past six months we've had to have ti endure being away from each other soon after getting engaged. We've had to plan our lives together in two different countries, which has been quite the challenge. All our wedding plans were inevitably thrown in the air.
We've had to make the most of what life has thrown at us and we are eagerly waiting to be reunited so that we can say our "I Do's" once he is able to return.
