Woman reveals the best wine to pair with KFC
Well, this is something we never thought we'd see…
Wine tasting and pairing have grown in popularity in recent years, with more and more places (not only in Cape Town) offering the popular activity.
But who said a wine pairing has to be done exclusively at a fancy restaurant with expensive food and wine?
TikToker SipWithMimi, who is known for sharing all things wine and wine pairing on her TikTok, recently shared one of the most peculiar wine pairings yet.

In a recent video posted to the video-sharing platform, Mimi, as she's known on TikTok, shared the perfect wine to pair with a KFC meal.
"You always want to consider how the wine tastes and how the food will bring out the flavour profiles of the wine."
"In this case, KFC is quite a greasy and oily type of food, so you wanna get a wine that's very high in acidity," she added.
KFC is also a salty type of food which pairs better with a sweeter type of wine.
"Sweet and salty go together."

Mimi opted to pair her KFC meal with Lourensford Cap Classique, a demi-sec made in 2019.
The TikToker described the wine as a "very fruity, fresh, high acidity type of wine", which paired perfectly with the salty, greasy KFC meal.
