2022 saw some great and memorable moments in the sports world.
To wrap up 2022, sports presenter Xola Ntshinga shared some of those great moments in sports.
Here are his favourite moments in sport for 2022:
1. When Banyana Banyana won WAFCON
South Africa's national women's football team, Banyana Banyana, were crowned the new queens of the continent after winning a maiden Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Rabat.
Striker Hildah Magaia scored twice as South Africa’s footballing women claimed their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title by beating hosts Morocco 2-1 in the final.
2. Springboks v New Zealand in Mbombela
The Springboks started their 2022 Castle Lager Rugby Championship campaign in the best way possible by beating New Zealand 26-10 at a packed and vibrant Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on August 6, in what can only be described as a dominating start to the tournament.
What especially stood out was how South Africans pitched up in their masses to create a memorable atmosphere.
3. Supporters returning to sporting venues
COVID-19 and lockdowns hit South Africa and the entire world extremely hard. Hence it comes as no surprise that one of the most memorable moments in sports includes supporters being able to return to sporting events.
South Africans were once again able to attend their favourite sporting venues to support their much-loved teams.
