Boss responds to Gen-Z employee wanting to leave work early
Updated | By The Drive with Rob and Roz
Should you be able to leave early if all your work is done?
When it comes to the many aspects of life, there are many differences between the various generations.
The era you grow up in plays a fundamental role in shaping who you are as a person.

According to some studies, the differences between the millennial and Gen-Z workforce are the most stark.
Adecco, a recruitment agency, notes that 34% of millennials value stability (34%), while 32% of Gen Z puts more emphasis on finding their dream job.

Many corporate leaders, CEOs, businessmen, and women have frowned upon Gen-Z's approach to the work environment and been very vocal about it.
Jessy Marshall owns an Australian public relations firm called Hive HQ.
She recently shared a text message between herself and one of her employees that shocked quite a few readers:

Unlike other employers, Marshall loves working with Gen-Z employees and encourages those born between 1997 and 2012 to play to their strengths.
Her staff consists of six Gen-Z employees, and she says they are honest and upfront about their mental loads and set healthy boundaries.
They are much better at saying they feel pushed or exhausted or they don’t feel like themselves and need to take time out. They are good at setting boundaries but they are also very good at making sure they work in their allocated time.- Jessy Marshall
That doesn't mean this new way of working comes easy.
Marshall calls herself a 'workaholic' as she was used to the hustle culture at work, but now it's about working smarter, not harder.
She also explains that many people assume Gen-Zers are lazy for wanting to leave work early or set boundaries, although when they are at work, they are more productive.
They are really proud of what they are doing and I’m giving them time to rejuvenate. If an urgent email came through, they’d still reply because they’d know it was important, but can it wait? Then it can wait until Monday.- Jessy Marshall
Some experts say that logging off is essentially how employees will need to manage their boundaries because work no longer has a clear stop and start time in this digital age.
A simple way of doing this is not replying to emails outside of work and being less accessible when you are not at work.
