Celine Dion's health declines as sister gives update
Updated | By The Drive with Rob and Roz
The legendary singer's sister has been providing updates to the public since Dion's diagnosis.
In December 2022, Celine Dion shared with the world that she had been struggling with her health for some time and that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome.

Some of the symptoms of stiff-person syndrome include stiff muscles in the trunk (torso), arms, and legs, and greater sensitivity to noise, touch, and emotional distress, which can set off muscle spasms.
This led her to cancel all her shows, including a tour, and since then she has remained out of the public eye while trying to work on her health.

Her sister, Claudette Dion, has been sharing updates on the singer saying that it is devastating to all of them, Celine included, that the disease is affecting her ability to sing.
Speaking to Canada's 7 Jours, Claudette spoke about the severity of the disease and the hope of a cure, but it seems unlikely as the disease itself is incredibly rare.
She mentioned that Celine "does not have control of her muscles" anymore:
There are some who have lost hope because it is a disease that is not [very well] known. What pains me is that she has always been disciplined. She’s always worked hard. Our mother always told her, ‘You’re going to do it well, you’re going to do it properly.- Claudette Dion

She also mentioned whether or not Celine Dion will ever be able to get back on stage and perform again:
It’s true that, in both our dreams and hers, the goal is to return to the stage. In what capacity? I don’t know. The vocal cords are muscles, and the heart is also a muscle. This is what comes to get me. Because [Dion’s condition is a] one out of a million case, the scientists haven’t done that much research because it didn’t affect that many people.- Claudette Dion
