Criminals are targeting these areas in South Africa for home robberies
Updated | By The Drive with Rob and Roz
After drug-related crime and assault, burglary is still the biggest crime subcategory in the country.
The South African Police Service has published the latest crime statistics for the first quarter of 2024/25 and residential crime is still concerning.
The statistics cover April to June, and while burglaries and robberies have declined over the past year, some areas in SA are still more heavily targeted.

The difference between a robbery and a burglary is the presence of a victim, which is absent during a burglary as the thief enters the home, but during a robbery, is present and threatened during the theft.
Burglaries have been decreasing slightly year upon year but it is still one of the highest crime rates in the country.
Between April and June 2024, 34,075 home burglaries were recorded across the country, while SAPS recorded 5,641 house robberies during the same time.
