Donatella Versace to step down as Versace's creative head
In 1978, brothers Gianni and Santo Versace co-founded one of the most iconic and flamboyant fashion houses.
Versace has established itself as a symbol of luxury and innovation in the fashion world.

One of Italy's most iconic fashion houses, it has been led by a member of the Versace family since its founding in 1978.
Gianni Versace, the first creative visionary behind the brand, remained at the helm until his tragic and untimely death on the steps of his Miami mansion, Casa Casuarina, on July 15, 1997.
Donatella clings to my arm; the veil covers her gaze. I try to be strong. I encourage her to stay strong. Many people surround us, but we feel deeply alone. That day, a part of me also died.
Since then, his sister, Donatella, has been at the head of the house; it has been her pride and joy.

Although the death of their brother will never leave them, the two siblings, Santo and Donatella, have helped make Versace what it is today.
Over many decades, they maintained the Versace image, presented runway after runway, dressed some of the biggest celebrities in the world, and made millions.
Now news has been shared that marks the end of an era.

In a brief statement released to the press on Thursday, March 13, Capri Holdings Limited announced that Donatella Versace is stepping down from her role as the creative head of the iconic fashion label.
Dario Vitale, currently with Miu Miu, will take over the reins, marking a new chapter for the brand.

"Chief creative officer Donatella Versace will assume the role of chief brand ambassador effective April 1, 2025," the same day that Vitale will take over, Capri said in a statement.
Championing the next generation of designers has always been important to me. I am thrilled that Dario Vitale will be joining us, and excited to see Versace through new eyes. I want to thank my incredible design team and all the employees at Versace that I have had the privilege of working with for over three decades. It has been the greatest honor of my life to carry on my brother Gianni’s legacy. He was the true genius, but I hope I have some of his spirit and tenacity. In my new role as chief brand ambassador, I will remain Versace’s most passionate supporter. Versace is in my DNA and always in my heart.
Vitale also said that he is "truly honoured" to join Versace in this role and to be a part of this powerful fashion house created by the Versace family. He also thanked Donatella for trusting him and for her dedication to the brand.
