Gauteng suburbs make list of top five most sought-after areas
Two Gauteng suburbs have managed to clinch spots on a list for sought-after suburbs among affluent South Africans.

There are some truly beautiful, safe and happy places to make a home.
South African company, Lightstone, focus on property and auto information, valuations and reporting and in their latest newsletter they shared some very interesting data.
By using property sales data and total purchase prices for the year 2023, they put together a definitive list of the top suburbs for wealthy people.

The list included some obvious contenders and also a few surprises.
Here is the list of top five South African suburbs:
- Bryanston (Gauteng)
- Sea Point (Western Cape)
- Midstream Estate (Gauteng)
- Sibaya Coastal Precinct (KwaZulu-Natal)
- Sunningdale (Western Cape)

Compared to the 2023 list, Sea Point has moved up a spot, while Val de Vie and Fresnye (both in the Western Cape) dropped from their fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
It's no shock that the Western Cape features twice, given that it is home to some of the most extravagant houses including the most expensive house in SA.
Although the house, named Casablanca is not located in Sunningdale or Sea Point, one can understand why these locations are so sought-after.
