Since the ordeal, Kim has opened up more about the experience and the trauma she has had to deal with from that day.
Kim publicly spoke about the incident for the first time in a 2017 episode of 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians'.
They ask for money. I said I don't have any money. They dragged me out on to the hallway on top of the stairs. That's when I saw the gun clear, like clear as day. I was kind of looking at the gun, looking down back at the stairs. I was like; 'I have a split second in my mind to make this quick decision. Am I going to run down the stairs and either be shot in the back? It makes me so upset to think about it. Either they're going to shoot me in the back, or if I make it and they don't, if the elevator does not open in time, or the stairs are locked, then like I'm f—ed. There's no way out.- Kim Kardashian
This was the first time she shared her suspicions that the robbers had tracked her via social media.

She told her sisters that she had posted a Snapchat where she said she was home alone, and the robbers would have known her bodyguard was out with her sister, Kourtney.
Almost a decade later, the trial of the 10 suspects, half of whom are alleged accomplices, has begun.
According to various sources, the 10 people are set to appear in court to face charges in connection with the heist, and Kim Kardashian will testify in person.

Aomar Ait Khedache, the man believed to have orchestrated the heist, has apologised to Kardashian in a letter written from his prison cell.
A fellow suspect on trial, Yunice Abbas, has admitted to his involvement in the robbery and even co-wrote a book about the heist in 2021 titled, 'I Sequestered Kim Kardashian'.
The court also confirmed that one of the alleged assailants had passed away before the trial was set to begin.
The New York Times reports that most of the stolen jewellery was never recovered.
