In case you've missed out, it was recently revealed that a TikTok creator called 'Dr Matthew Lani' pretended to be a professional doctor, sharing "medical advice" and providing information and education to the masses.
As it turns out, this man has no medical qualifications and he could be facing serious legal action.
While it might be all fun and games on the internet, many people are now seriously questioning the legitimacy of medical professionals.

If you are finding that you might have doubts about any of the doctors you are seeing, or you are suspicious of a medical professional, there are ways to confirm the person is registered.
The Health Professionals Council of South Africa provides the tools to check whether a person is registered, which you can find here.
