Despite this setback, Foxx made a remarkable recovery and soon returned to work. 'Back In Action' is set to premiere on Friday, January 17.
In December 2024, he released his highly anticipated comedy special, 'What Had Happened Was…'. In the show, the Oscar- and Grammy-winning star openly shares his stroke diagnosis for the first time, providing a raw and personal perspective on his health journey.
Foxx also shared an unexpected insight from his near-death experience, revealing that it was quite different to what others have shared – he didn't see his life flash before his eyes.
Your life doesn't flash before your face, it was kind of oddly peaceful, I saw a tunnel, I didn't see the light. It was hot in that tunnel, am I going to the wrong place? Sh*t, am I going to the wrong place in this? Because I looked at the end of the tunnel, and I thought I saw the devil like, ‘Come on.’ Or is that [Sean Combs]?- Jamie Foxx
Foxx says that his situation was critical, with one nurse giving him just a 5% chance of survival. Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors acted swiftly, saying they needed to go into his head immediately, or they would lose him.
Now fully recovered, Foxx reflects on his journey with f, "If I can stay funny, then I can stay alive.”
