Updated | By The Drive with Rob and Roz
When, if ever, have you cleaned your earbuds?

No matter how gross it might sound, earwax will accumulate on items such as earbuds and earphones.

While it might look unappealing you also do not want to keep putting dirty earbuds in your ears.
Various sources recommend cleaning your earphones, especially the earbuds, regularly.
It could be slightly daunting if you have no idea how or where to start, and you don't want to damage these items.

The first step should be disinfecting the devices with a wipe or spray. It's important to note that earbuds are usually made of rubber, plastic, silicone, or acrylic so you should use an alcohol-free substance to avoid damaging the material.
If you choose to use rubbing alcohol, you can dilute it with water and clean the device with a lint-free cloth.

Sonos recommends you do the following:
- Unplug and turn off earbuds.
- Wipe hard material (plastic, metal, etc.) with a clean, dry cloth.
- If that doesn't work, mix one cup water with ¼ teaspoon mild dish soap and dampen (not soak) the cloth.
- Be sure to avoid electrical inputs.
- Remove ear cushions from headphones and use the same method.
You can also purchase earbuds cleaning tools online, but a cotton swab or toothbrush can do the trick.
Wired also suggests a microfiber cloth that will prevent scratches.
Here's some information: You can keep a silica gel pack in the bag containing your devices. It soaks up extra moisture and prevents damage.
