LISTEN: This song will instantly remove any tune stuck in your head
Updated | By The Drive with Rob and Roz
There are few things as annoying as the same, same, same song on repeat...
If you had to listen to only one song for the rest of your life, you would probably not be able to choose one, and even if you did choose one, you would get sick of it pretty quickly.
You might have heard the term 'earworm'.

According to The Kennedy Center, "More than 100 years ago, Germans coined the term öhrwurm—earworm—to describe the experience of a song stuck in the brain. Scientists call it other names, like 'stuck tune syndrome' and 'musical imagery repetition'.”
Usually an earworm is a fragment of music, usually three or four bars, which go round and round and round. This is a special form of involuntary musical imagery which is out of control and can become quite unpleasant and intrusive.- Dr. Oliver Sacks (Neurologist and author who studies music and the brain)
An earworm can be a blessing and a curse.
If you love the song stuck in your head, it could be fun for a few hours or days, but at some point, you are going to want to get rid of even your favourite song.

Dr Kelly Jakubowski, a music psychologist from Durham University, developed the 'Earworm Eraser', which claims to be the most effective way to remove sticky earworms from the brain.
The 'Earworm Eraser' video was commissioned by software firm Atlassian and the video description explains how it works:
The Earworm Eraser audio track works by incorporating scientific principles of music and the brain to disrupt the neural patterns that keep a catchy tune stuck in one's head. The track features a series of audio patterns and rhythmic structures that are carefully designed to break the loop of the song in the listener's mind.- Atlassian
It is said to work instantly, but seeing as every person is different, it is not 100% effective.

While it doesn't necessarily help every single person in the world, many people have shared how this short video has dramatically improved their lives with one commenter saying it helped their insomnia.
@Jack6J57 said: "Sometimes my earworms are so bad that I can’t sleep and focus and eventually I just wish for my brain to shut down entirely, anyway this has genuinely helped my insomnia, thank you!
I listen to this every time before bed and for some reason it works… like.. if I get something stuck on my head I just think of this and it goes away!"
