If there's one thing we learned in 2020, it's that things are not as clean as they seem...
As humans, we tend to think that the dirtiest place in our homes is our bathrooms.
More specifically the toilet.
Considering what goes on in there, it only seems logical.

However, if you were to really think about it, that does mean it gets cleaned more often.
So, what about places outside of your home?
You would probably think that public bathrooms are covered in germs but there is a place people tend to visit quite regularly that seems to be much dirtier.

In a new study, a team of researchers took to swabbing cinema seats and cupholders and compared the data to the average toilet seat.
It is estimated that 7.3-billion cinema tickets will be sold in 2024 and 2023 already saw people flocking to the box office for movies such as 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer'.

That's a lot of people sitting in these seats.
So how does the cinema seat compare to the toilet seat?

Obviously, the results will vary depending on the cinema seat swabbed.
They also noted that the dirtiest seat had 3,000 colonies of bacteria living on it, whereas the "cleanest" had just 80 colonies of bacteria, which is 55 times less than the average toilet seat.

Wash your hands and change your clothes when you get home.
