Spooky season, or October as most people call it, is around the corner and it's the perfect excuse to watch scary movies.
But have you ever found yourself watching a freaky film and thinking that the events in the movie seem eerily familiar?
If you suspect your house might be haunted, then the presenters of 'Help! My House is Haunted' might have some tips for you.
Barri Ghai and Jayne Harris present the popular Discovery+ show, on which they travel across the UK and help ordinary people who are experiencing paranormal activities in their homes.

In a recent interview, the two presenters shared some advice for those who think they might have a spooky situation on their hands.
Here is what to look out for in a 'classic haunting':
1. Temperature changes
Ghai, the technical expert, explained that this is the most common sign or symptom of a haunting.
People have inexplicable cold spots around their home, regardless of how much heating is on or whether doors and windows are closed.- Barri Ghai
2. The feeling of being watched
Ghai says that you should trust your instincts because the human body is the best paranormal detector.
Sometimes people walk around their own homes. Even though it’s their stuff, they feel like they’re trespassing. And then they feel that they have eyes on them.- Barri Ghai
3. Corner of eye spots
Jayne Harris is a historian and psychologist and she says that often humans will try to explain things away. But we are more perceptive than we think.
So if you’re sat watching the TV one night, and you think you've just seen someone walk past the door, a lot of people would just be like ‘it’s nothing’. But if it happens again on a separate occasion, it could be something. Trust yourself, trust your instincts. You know your house, you know when things don't feel quite right.- Jayne Harris
4. The unexplained
Harris also advises keeping an ear and an eye out for little unexplained things in your home.
Nobody knows your home like you do, so if a creaky floorboard is making a sound without you stepping on it, you know that is unexplained and that could mean there is something there.
Go with your gut instinct. Look out for the little things. Often people will find things go missing or things move, and they will find them in places where they know they’ve looked.- Jayne Harris
5. Anomalous Sounds
This is said to happen every now and again where Ghai says people have heard whispering and chatting to fully spoken words.
Or in the more sinister cases, someone whose voice is familiar to you. It’s that mimicking sound - so your mum calling your name, but your mum's not there. That kind of thing that happens a lot.- Barri Ghai
The paranormal investigators also state that before you go looking for the out of the ordinary you have to eliminate the obvious and logical explanations.
Before you start looking for cold spots, you need to make sure your windows are closed.
Because it's only when you rule out all of those logical explanations that you're left with potentially a paranormal case.- Jayne Harris
