You might have a secret code word or gesture when you want to leave a gathering.
Unfortunately, it seems that ever since humans have been in monogamous romantic relationships, some people have also had the urge to cheat.
There are no excuses for cheating, but partners with wondering eyes will come up with very creative ways to hide their infidelity.
An affair is not a secret you would want your partner to keep from you.

According to some people, there are even signs you can be on the lookout for.
Married people who want others to know they are open to a second relationship on the down low use a new code to signal their intentions to others.
It might seem ridiculous, but people are using their shopping choices to showcase their sexual preferences.

Illicit Encounters is the UK's "leading married-dating website" and its users have shared how they signify their openness to an affair while in public.
In one of its forums, a user wrote about a secret code that those seeking affairs could use:
Here’s the deal: If you’re at the supermarket, feeling adventurous and maybe not quite as satisfied at home as you should be, you simply put TWO BELL PEPPERS in your trolley/basket BUT the stems have to be facing downward. That’s the key… It’s like a secret handshake, but with veg.- Anon.

Initially, the user who wrote the post only suggested this as a way for people to identify each other in public and they wanted to know if it was a good idea.
A few of the comments on the post seemed optimistic saying, "I like the sound of that..a secret code.. who will approach you is exciting".
Others said that it could lead to the purchase of too many bell peppers:
I was in a well known shop yesterday called something and S had a basket full of red peppers still no luck I now have a fridge full of red peppers ,Looks like is roasted red pepper soup till Xmas.- laugar164
There was one person who decided to take the leap and put their upside-down bell peppers in their shopping cart and managed to find someone.
They were very optimistic that if enough people do it, it could become successful:
Worked for me, kind of! Tescos in Beckton is the place to be... I went there on Friday night, picked up my couple of peppers and headed for the frozen aisle. Next to the yorkshire puds I noticed someone else with peppers in their trolley, there was a bit of an awkward smile and we spoke for a bit. I don't think we we were quite right for each other but it was nice to have a chat with someone else who clearly isn't happen in their relationship. I'll keep this up! If enough people do it, we could actually be on to something here.- MoonMoon
If you suspect your partner might be up to something, you can now tag along on a shopping trip and see if your suspicions are correct.
Although it's still not a foolproof way of catching a cheater.
It's also not the first time a food has been used to signify something spicy.
Pineapples have been used by those in the swinging community while on cruise ships to indicate they are open to switching partners.
