Popular chocolate brand announces another price hike

It almost seems crazy when someone says they don't love chocolate.

A hot chocolate in the winter is the perfect sweet treat or you can show someone your appreciation by giving them a slab of their favourite choc.

Unfortunately for all chocolate lovers, there is some bad news.

According to Jacaranda FM News, the price of cocoa in Ghana increased by 45% in 2024, affecting the global supply and increasing the price of chocolate.

Sadly, one of the luxury chocolate brands has announced another price hike, making them even pricier than they already are.

Swiss chocolate maker Lindt & Spruengli recently announced that it was raising its prices again in 2025.

While it might seem like higher prices will equate to fewer sales, the company had strong sales and an increase.

Even with prices rising, there is still a large appetite amongst consumers.

In 2024, the group hiked prices by "mid-single" digits to offset the rising cocoa costs.

To put it into perspective, cocoa prices increased 161% last year, reaching $10,100 per tonne in mid-December before easing to $9,165 at the end of 2024.

In Lindt's case, they say they are expecting seven to nine percent organic growth in 2025.
