Readers upset by '100 best books of the 21st century' list

The New York Times (NYT) is one of the most revered publications in the world.

For authors, there are very few achievements that feel as good as releasing a New York Times bestseller.

So they are considered as a reputable source for good literature, book recommendations and reviews.

Which means that they are home to all kinds of lists.

Everyone loves a good list, whether it's ranking the best Taylor Swift albums or the worst movies of all time.

There might, however, be a slight chance that these lists will upset you because your favourite is not where it should be ranked.

This week, the NYT released its list of the 100 best books of the 21st century, and if you are looking to add more books to your reading wishlist, then this is for you.

As with many of these types of lists, you won't be able to please everyone.

But most readers were left less than impressed by this list.

Luckily, the NYT decided to pivot and use this to their advantage.

And so a second list was born where readers could vote for their favourites.

61 new books were added to the list and only 39 overlapped with the original list.
