"But there is no Ken without Barbie".
Undoubtedly the biggest movies of 2023 were 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer'.

Or 'Barbenheimer' as they have been affectionately nicknamed.
As award season has kicked off the movies have done exactly what they have been expected to do with cast members, crew, and many others, already walking away with various awards.
These two movies were also set to be cleaning up at the 2024 Oscars and the nominations have been released.
The 'Barbie' movie was nominated for Best Picture, actress America Ferrera grabbed a nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and Ryan Gosling, aka 'Ken', also managed to bag a nom.

However, there has been major upset and backlash as two people, who played a critical role in the creation of the 'Barbie' movie, have been left out of the running.
Greta Gerwig has not been nominated in the Best Director category and Margot Robbie has not been nominated in the Best Actress category for her role as 'Barbie'.
Social media has blown up with people reacting to this news and they are not happy.

Even Ryan Gosling has now released an official statement in which he addresses his colleagues' Oscar snubs
Here are a few others that agree with Gosling:

The movie is absolutely brilliant, and Greta Gerwig is a genius.#Oscars #Oscars2024
greta gerwig being snubbed at the #Oscars despite barbie being the ONLY $1 billion movie solely directed by a woman feels VERY sus to me… pic.twitter.com/cjzqkmOzYU

The iconic Barbie monologue delivered by the brilliant, Oscar nominated @AmericaFerrera really rings true after the movie’s director, Greta Gerwig, was passed over for an Oscar nomination … even though the movie she created was nominated for Best Picture. pic.twitter.com/cJ0FygrLPE
