While there aren't many SA chefs who have made headlines worldwide, Ash Valenzuela-Heeger is making waves in the restaurant industry for all the right reasons.
Foodies might recognise Valenzuela-Heege from her stint on the Netflix show 'The Final Table'.

Valenzuela-Heege and her wife Erin first did culinary pop-ups showcasing her talents before settling in Birmingham, England.
Here they decided to open their inventive and popular restaurant, Riverine Rabbit.

The year is off to a great start for the couple, especially Valenzuela-Heege, as their restaurant was recently awarded a Bib Gourmand by The MICHELIN Guide.
The Bib Gourmand distinction is The MICHELIN Guide’s way of recognising restaurants that offer good food at a great price. While all Bib Gourmands are unique in style and approach, they share the same spirit of generosity and a commitment to quality cooking.
That's not all!
Valenzuela-Heeger has also received a highly prestigious award.

The MICHELIN Guide has awarded her the MICHELIN Young Chef Award after she showcased her incredible culinary talent and impressed the Inspectors over the last year. This accolade is reserved for chefs under 36.
She has truly established herself on the Birmingham food scene.
I’m not sure how young I am anymore but I’m pleased – thank you very much!
