According to News24, GoldTrust has conducted a worldwide study to determine which countries are the top contenders for destination weddings and the results might surprise you.
They looked at the most popular search terms used in Google by Americans to determine the most popular countries.
Some of the search terms included "book a wedding in South Africa" and it confirmed that American nationals showed exceptional interest in Africa.

Among the top African countries were Ghana and Nigeria, with South Africa coming in at number one!
As South Africans, this recognition should fill us with pride and encourage us to continue promoting our beautiful country as a top-tier destination for those looking to tie the knot. It also presents an excellent opportunity for the local wedding industry to further capitalise on this interest, potentially leading to increased international visits and supporting the local economy.
In 2024 alone, South Africa averaged 2,550 monthly searches.
