Study reveals the friendliest country in the world

You often hear about certain countries being more friendly than others.
Some countries have garnered a serious reputation for being more rude.

When visiting or moving to a new country, especially one that is completely foreign, one hopes to receive a warm welcome and be made to feel at home.
No matter how bad things get in South Africa, this seems to be a characteristic that no one will ever be able to take away from our people.
And there is science to prove it.

The international money transfer service Remitly did a global study to find which countries were the friendliest.
Over 3,000 participants from around the globe answered a series of questions from the ‘agreeableness’ section of the Big 5 Personality Test.
This popular psychological model also gauges characteristics such as kindness and empathy.

The study had some interesting key findings, but here is the score of the top 10 friendliest countries:
South Africa came out on top as the friendliest country, which can be seen in its residents' warm and welcoming nature.
It's not uncommon for you to be greeted by passersby while walking around, and there is no doubt that South Africans use humour to cope with some of the more stressful situations.

Another interesting observation is that with 11 official languages, it is also easier to communicate with locals and make new friends.
The research also asked participants which countries they believe are the most friendly.
No surprise here that 57% of people voted for their nation.

According to 97% of the South African participants, South Africa is the friendliest country.
So maybe we are a bit biased by agreeing with the research, but then again, facts are facts.
