This time of the year horror fans want to spend their time watching as many horror movies and shows as possible.
But is there a better way to get your heart racing and your blood pumping than to immerse yourself in the world of horrors fully?
You don't even need a virtual reality set to feel the full effects of a proper terrifying game.
According to a recent study, there are more than enough games that will get the job done.

Mobile, TV, and internet provider Broadband Choices first compiled a list of the top horror games according to fans and critics, all released between 1992 and 2022.
The researchers then asked 200 volunteers to play these games while connected to heart rate monitors.
While playing the games, players' beats per minute (BPM) were compared to their resting heart rate. The researchers also considered severe heart rate spikes during jump scares and then compiled their list.

The scariest game was determined to have the most BPM.
Some of the top scary games include:
- 'Alien Isolation' (96 BPM) - This game was released in 2014 and takes place 15 years after the original 'Alien' movie. It follows Amanda Ripley as she embarks on a journey to find her mother.
- 'Visage' (94 BPM) - Players control Dwayne Anderson as he learns about the souls that used to live in his house.
However, the game that took the number one spot is truly horrifying.
The game 'MADiSON' was released in 2022.

In it, you play a teenage boy named Luca who receives a camera possessed by a serial killer's spirit.
