Taste Of Home has also put their own list together that will definitely help you:

1. Never Shop on Sunday Afternoons

People are shopping ahead of the new week, and it tends to be the busiest time of the week.

2. Always Shop with a List

If you go out to buy something without a list, you're more likely to forget it. If you stick to it, you won't buy unnecessary items.

3. Never Shop Hungry

Research has shown that shopping on an empty stomach can increase spending.

4. Shop Alone When You Can

Sugary treats are often strategically placed at kids' eye level, so shopping on your own means you are less likely to buy lots of sweets and candies.

5. Bring Your Own Bags

This is better for the environment, and you don't have to spend money on plastic bags.

6. Always Grab Meat and Dairy Items Last

You don't want these items, that usually have to stay in the fridge, lying in your shopping cart for too long.

7. Don’t Buy an Item Just Because It’s on Sale

Just because an item is on sale doesn't mean it's the cheapest option. Be sure to still look around before settling on the sale item.

8. Always Grab Perishable Items from the Back of the Shelf

Many stores use a first-in, first-out organisation system. Look behind the first few to see if you can spot fresher dates for these items.
