Lie detector tests have always been an interesting subject.
While its result might not generally be admissible in court, it's been a major feature on certain talk shows, series, and movies.

Those who use it do acknowledge this, but it will certainly put anyone with a criminal conscience under pressure and make them sweat under the collar a bit.
Former US Secret Service agent, Evy Poumpouras, is somewhat of an expert in the field and has witnessed a few lie detector tests during her career.
She recently appeared on the podcast 'Diary of a CEO' and discussed her experience as a polygraph examiner.

During the podcast, she spoke about one of the best liars she's ever met.
The man was a "very low-level basic criminal", but he managed to remain calm even when presented with photographic evidence of him committing the crime.
She also mentioned that there is one thing that a suspect would say before the test, which is almost a dead giveaway, that they are, in fact, guilty.

According to Poumpouras, what alerted her to his guilt was something that other suspects often do as well.
He said this a lot – ‘I swear to God, God is my witness, God knows that's not me.’ We would call it divine intervention. Whenever you'd hear somebody do that, you knew it's like okay there was a problem. Why do you need God to come in to vouch for you? We actually have people come in with Bibles or rosary beads. Whenever you saw that in the waiting room, I would say, ‘Don't even polygraph them, they did it’.- Evy Poumpouras (former US Secret Service agent)
