Dricus du Plessis made history in 2024 when he became the reigning UFC Middleweight Champion and the first-ever South African to win a UFC championship.

The Pretoria local earned the UFC middleweight title after a split-decision win against Sean Strickland at UFC 297.
Now Du Plessis is ready to defend his title this weekend.
In their pre-fight press conference on Thursday, February 6, Strickland and Du Plessis had their final exchange before the fight.
According to the Daily Maverick, Du Plessis appeared cool, calm and collected, while Strickland was worked up and fiery, with the crowd cheering him on.

While there was a clear favourite among fans at the press conference, South Africans and many UFC supporters worldwide are sure that Du Plessis will easily keep his title.
The fighter was not just all business in Sydney, Australia, however – he's also had some fun.
On his previous "work" visit to Aus, he met up with some local content creators called the Reese Bros to make a fun video.
