VIDEO: Fog leads to massive accident involving 100 cars
It seems like something out of a movie.
Driving always comes with some level of risk, but in South Africa, taxis often add to the chaos and stress on the roads.

Even during the festive season – when road users are urged to drive safely – the death toll tends to climb.
There’s rarely a silver lining to a car crash, aside from the hope that no one is seriously injured.
But some accidents are so shocking they leave you speechless – like this pile-up in Zhengzhou, China.

A recent viral social media video captures the sheer scale of the disaster. The accident occurred on a bridge along a highway, where thick fog had reduced visibility to almost nothing.
It appears that one initial crash set off a chain reaction, leading to nearly 100 cars colliding.
Footage shows people standing near the accident, desperately trying to wave down oncoming drivers.

But with the fog so dense, many motorists only realise what’s happening when it's too late and continue to drive into the growing pile-up.

As terrifying as the incident is, it's not the first time a massive pile-up has occurred on this bridge.
In December 2022, a similar accident was reported at the same location, involving over 200 vehicles and resulting in one fatality.
Cars and trucks could been seen crumpled and piled on top of each other on the Zhengxin Huanghe bridge in pictures and videos posted on social media. One car was jack-knifed in the middle of a pile in a picture taken from CCTV footage.
