What a moment when these two worlds collide...
If you are not familiar with the sport of football, or soccer, then you might not know about this age-old tradition.

It is typical for players of the sport to be accompanied by a child when walking onto the field for a match and the kids join the players as they stand in line before the match kicks off.
While this might seem strange to some, this endearing and often sweet meeting of child and idol is a longstanding tradition.

According to Mentalfloss.com: "Though the exact origins of the custom are unclear, it’s been around at least since the mid-1990s. One oft-cited example is from a November 1996 match between Liverpool F.C. and Everton F.C.: The Liverpool Echo printed a photo of the referees standing with the two team captains, each flanked by a youth player."
This later became general practice in the sport when UNICEF and FIFA worked together during the 2002 World Cup and had children accompany the players onto the field to highlight their 'Say Yes To Children' campaign.
Children are being given a prime role at each match, accompanying each player on to the pitch in a symbolic action reminding football enthusiasts that they have a major role to play in building a world fit for children.

Since then, thousands of little children have been able to meet some of their heroes, who also happen to be some of the biggest names in the sport.
One such lucky kid is Saint West, son of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
Lionel Messi has been playing for the Inter Miami CF soccer team, owned by fellow football star David Beckham, in the USA.

From the moment he touched down, interest in the sport has grown among Americans... especially the rich and famous.
Many celebs have graced the stands of the stadiums watching one of the greatest football players do what he does best.

Kim K has mentioned that her son is very interested in the sport and she has taken him to incredible matches and stadiums across the world.
So it should come as no surprise that the mascot accompanying Messi onto the field in one of the most recent matches was Saint West:

Although this is definitely a big moment for West, this is not the first time he has met his idol:

And we have to admit, it is a very sweet moment and something he will obviously remember for the rest of his life.
