The 45-year-old has finally been reunited with his family.
Omar Bin Omran was on his way to school in Djelfa city in 1998 when his life changed forever.

He was only 17 years old when he was taken and because of the Algerian Civil War that was ongoing, his family assumed he had been a casualty of the war after he failed to return home.
Little did they know that he was being kept in a hole in the floor of his neighbour's home.
Omran is now 45 years old, and he was found in his alleged captor's house just 300m from his family home.

According to public prosecutors, the suspect who kept Omran captive has been arrested.
The Djelfa Attorney General’s Office informs the public that on 12 May at 8pm local time it found victim Omar B, aged 45, in the case of his neighbour, BA, aged 61.
The case was re-opened after Omran's family shared information with law enforcement. The family had allegedly received a tip that the suspect's brother took to social media to share that his brother was involved in an abduction.

Omran's mother also never stopped looking for him but unfortunately passed away in 2013 before she could be reunited with her son.
His poor mum died while he was in captivity, without knowing what had happened to him, without knowing that all this time he was really right beside her.
