This one simple rule caused major outrage...

Netflix on Tuesday said that its number of subscribers hit a record high of 232.5 million in the first quarter of the year and that its nascent ad-supported tier is faring well.

A lot happened in 2023, but one thing that stood out was the restriction on Netflix accounts.

With very little warning, the streaming giant announced that password sharing would become a thing of the past.

For a long time, there didn't seem to be any issue with accounts being 'shared' or 'borrowed' until they started limiting access to one account per household.

Now, Netflix co-CEO, Ted Sarandos, has revealed why they cracked down on password sharing.

Sarandos appeared as a guest on 'The David Rubenstein Show: Peer to Peer Conversations' and explained that the reason for the change wasn't actually all about revenue:

While there was backlash after the initial announcement, the CEO claims that the streaming service has maintained its success and that the new measures have been effective.
