VIDEO: New docuseries exposes controversial talk show
Updated | By The Drive with Rob and Roz
No reality show or talk show could compete with the craziness that was 'The Jerry Springer Show'.
Over the decades, many talk shows have graced our TV screens, but only a few have achieved true icon status.

Talk show queens Oprah, Ellen DeGeneres and Wendy Williams have paved the way for modern hosts like Drew Barrymore and Kelly Clarkson.
While these shows often focused on changing lives, exclusive celebrity interviews, and occasional drama, 1991 saw the debut of a talk show that broke all moulds: 'The Jerry Springer Show'.
Unlike anything on TV then – or arguably since – 'The Jerry Springer Show' thrived on chaos and controversy. The show, hosted by the late Jerry Springer, a former Cincinnati mayor and local news anchor, quickly skyrocketed to fame (and infamy).

'The Jerry Springer Show' ran for an impressive 27 seasons before concluding in 2018, and blurred the lines between talk show, reality TV, and full-blown drama. And for many '90s kids, it was the ultimate guilty pleasure, often watched in secrecy because parents deemed its salacious content too risqué.
Some called it trash TV and it wasn't without controversy. Behind the shocking love triangles, explosive confrontations, and headline-grabbing scandals, viewers were left wondering: How much of it was real, and how much was carefully staged for ratings?
Luckily, Netflix has stepped in to uncover the truth.

The streaming giant, known for its captivating and highly rated documentaries, is set to release 'Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action' on January 7.
This two-part doc promises an in-depth exploration of "one of the most outrageous talk shows of all time", giving fans – and sceptics – a behind-the-scenes look at the legendary chaos that defined 'The Jerry Springer Show'.
The jaw-dropping series tells the story of the show as it’s never been told before, with extraordinary firsthand testimony and revelations from show insiders who lay bare the dark truths behind its entertaining facade. The show’s producers and ex-guests paint a murkier picture of the destruction it caused, raising renewed questions about who was responsible and how far things should go in the name of entertainment.- Netflix
This might just be one of the juiciest documentaries and provides a very entertaining start to 2025.
