But what if you took the concept of a chicken nugget – a ball wrapped in a crispy layer – and made it 100% South African?
For years, people have been experimenting with different types, from veggie nuggets to cheese-filled versions.

Pap is a dish that is extremely popular among South Africans.
While a classic meal of pap and wors is a favourite, people are constantly trying to create new, tasty meals with this staple food.
That’s exactly what Zanokuhle Dlamini did when she decided to get creative with pap and shared her recipe for pap nuggets!
In her TikTok video, she reveals that this is what she and her kids had for dinner.

She then shows viewers how she makes the pap, rolls it into balls, stuffs them with cheese, and deep-fries them.
The result? Pap nuggets that look just like crispy chicken nuggets.

The video became an instant hit as viewers commented on how innovative and fun this recipe is.
With over 570k views, Dlamini also received a few warnings.
Some commenters cautioned her about companies possibly stealing her idea and profiting from it, while others have taken it upon themselves to try the recipe – and are loving the process.
