A TikTok creator, @alexisburnaby1711, recently shared a video where she showed off a travel hack that she had seen and decided to try out.

She mentions that she owes her life to the person who first shared this "brilliant" idea and shows viewers how she now chooses to fly:

Viewers were quick to share their opinions on the "life-changing" hack, saying "that is such a medical emergency waiting to happen—" and "there’s no way that’s more comfortable long term than just sitting".

Most importantly, people are pointing out the dangers of sitting in this position for too long with the seatbelt tied around your feet, because of blood circulation being cut off and the possible harm that could be caused by her legs in this position in case of an emergency.

If you are looking for air travel tips that come from a more trustworthy source, here's some advice courtesy of John Hopkins Medicine:

  • Airplane air is very dry so make sure you stay hydrated by drinking nonalcoholic, decaffeinated beverages.
  • Stretch your calf muscles while sitting.
  • Walk as often as possible when safe to do so to prevent blood clots and select an aisle seat if possible.
  • If you struggle with circulation wear support stockings.
