According to Netwerk24, the pair were on their way to the hospital after Michelle had been complaining about severe stomach pains, but they never reached their destination as a driver crashed into them.
The driver of the other car was trying to escape the police chasing him and survived the accident.

Badenhorst was a beloved vice principal at Tuinrand Primary School in Pretoria and the school paid tribute to the family with a wreath-laying ceremony:
This is an exceptionally tragic story, but Michelle's brother and Louwrense's son, Devin (19), has chosen to honour his family in a beautiful way.
Devin has been playing tennis for many years and is currently a first-year student at Baylor University in Texas where he also plays competitively.
