For South Africans, the braai is an essential part of our culture.

While others have barbeque, it will never be the same as a lekker braai.

There is also very specific braai etiquette.

Every house you visit for such a gathering will have different rules, but some will remain the same no matter where you go.

We've even heard from someone who had guests who ordered food while attending their braai.

South Africans don't need any special occasion or excuse to have a braai, but it does go well with a rugby game.

This weekend, the Springboks are once again taking on Argentina in The Rugby Championship, and everyone is hoping for a victory.

That means it's time for a braai.

Have you ever wondered what goes down at a Springbok braai?

In a recent video for Boks Office, a rugby content page, former Springboks Jean de Villiers and Schalk Burger spoke about the do's and don'ts of a braai.

When asked what some red flags at a braai are, the players did not hold back!

De Villiers mentions 'backseat braaing' and trying to control another person's braai, whereas Burger mentions vegan options not being part of his 'genre'.

Watch the hilarious duo share their opinion here:

One viewer said they could relate to the vegan patty dilemma, but in a very sweet way: "😂😂😂 vegan patties welcome to my life. The love of my life is vegan".

Most viewers fully agreed with de Villiers about the 'backseat braai' situation:

  • "Jy krap nie in n ander man se vuur nie"
  • "Yea don't come take over as if you in invented how to braai 😂😂"

Here's hoping the Boks will take the victory and no one will try to take your braai...
