Communication has changed a lot over the centuries.

Humans have used many materials, from cave paintings to stone tablets, to document life.

A fundamental part of growing up is learning how to read and write.

One of the first things a child learns to write is their name.

Eventually, after using a pencil, they might upgrade to a pen and receive their "pen licence".

While calligraphy writing might now be considered a specialist skill, most people know how to write with a pen and do it frequently.

You might be surprised that even writing with a pen on paper is becoming archaic, especially among iPad kids.

If you have not heard of an iPad kid, the term describes "children in Generation Alpha (those born between 2010 and today) who are seemingly addicted to screens".

It is believed that Gen Z (born between the late 1990s and 2010) coined the term because they saw many kids glued to their iPads.

It is meant to be a silly phrase that isn't too serious, but electronic tablets might affect how children, teens, and even students write on paper.

One TikTok user was brave enough to share a video of herself having a bit of an embarrassing moment thanks to her frequent use of an iPad.

Trisha (@pcfgstudy) is a chemical engineering student who uses the platform to share advice on studying for exams.

In a video viewed almost 10-million times, Trisha opened herself to criticism by showing how using an iPad has affected her old-school pen-and-paper writing.

The video shows her sitting at a desk as she starts to write, and she then tries to zoom in on the page, which, for obvious reasons, doesn't work.

She also then tries to "delete" something she wrote but realises that she isn't writing on her tablet.

  • Quinn - "I get so mad when I have to manually erase 😂"
  • A Garden Tool - "Is this a genuine problem yall have?"
