VIDEO: Turn your morning routine into a game with fun device

If you struggle to get up in the mornings this might be for you...
It is hard to get up in the morning unless you are a morning person.
Especially when you have to be up and out of bed quite early.
VIDEO: New viral TikTok trend that will help you sleep better
Getting out of your warm, cosy bed in the winter is definitely not as hard as it is in the summer.
Like most people, you probably use an alarm clock to wake up in the morning. And it’s probably the one on your phone.
Unfortunately, much like DVDs and floppy disks, the classic bedside alarm clock has faded into tech obscurity in recent years.

You might still find a nice, novelty alarm clock or an archaic one that miraculously works next to some people’s beds, but the phone alarm reigns supreme.
But what if your morning alarm could not only help you get out of bed, it did it by turning the “activity” into a game?
Nintendo is known for being a hugely innovative and creative company.
In 2017, they released their version of a handheld console, the Switch, which became an instant favourite.
Since then, they have released newer console updates, but it has been a minute since they launched any new gadgets.

Now they have announced their latest creation: an alarm clock.
It wouldn't be Nintendo if this were just a normal alarm clock.
The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo will cost you R1,755 and resembles a cartoon prop.
It has a red exterior and 35 different scene displays taken from five popular games: 'Super Mario Odyssey', 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild', 'Pikmin 4', 'Ring Fit Adventure', and 'Splatoon 3'.

Nintendo also used its expert gaming knowledge to ensure the alarm had fun features, making it more exciting than your average alarm clock.
When the alarm starts, a scene with accompanying sound effects plays on the clock face. To snooze the clock, the user must make a gesture picked up by motion-activated sensors.
The alarm will only turn off after the user is out of bed.
Watch the video below to see the Alarmo in action:
In an interview with Nintendo, the product’s co-developer, Tetsuya Akama, said:
First and foremost, I hope this product will establish a new convention for waking up. You wake up, enjoy listening to the game world for a while, and just by getting out of bed, a fanfare will play automatically and the alarm will stop. I hope that being able to change how waking up that day feels by choosing a different alarm sound will become a global standard in the future.- Tetsuya Akama (Product’s co-developer)
Nintendo Switch Online members can purchase it online, but it will only be widely available in early 2025.
