Updated | By The Drive with Rob and Roz
Be careful what you wish for...
Most people have a bucket list.

It doesn't have to be an especially long or extreme list, but surely everyone has something special they want to do before they leave this Earth.
It could be getting married or climbing a mountain.
Maybe you want to skydive or learn a language.

Some might think that these aren't equal but none of these are easy to accomplish or simple.
A bucket list requires equal amounts of effort and dreaming.

There are many bucket list items that are popular among many people and one of these is seeing the Great Barrier Reef.
The Great Barrier Reef is a site of remarkable variety and beauty on the north-east coast of Australia. It contains the world’s largest collection of coral reefs, with 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusc. It also holds great scientific interest as the habitat of species such as the dugong (‘sea cow’) and the large green turtle, which are threatened with extinction.- UNESCO

It would be pretty incredible and a once-in-a-lifetime experience witnessing the reef's majestic beauty up close and personal.
However, one TikToker has shared a warning after visiting the reef after the trip had been on her list for years.
Adriana, @ajelesslipss, posted a video on the social media platform in which she shared her disappointment and explained why the experience ended up being underwhelming.

In her caption, she also wrote that she was aware of the negative effects global warming has had on reefs around the world, including the Great Barrier Reef, as well as the tourism industry.
But what could have led to her having such a terrible time?
Watch her video to find out why Adriana was devastated and let down by her visit:
@ajelesslipss This has been on my bucket list for years! To say I was devo amd underwhelmed is an understatement. I knew through global warming & too many of us tourists, that we had done some damage, I had heard and hoped we were regenerating it. This proved to me we have a long way to go. The guides agreed that what you see on documentaries is not reality and is very rare to see 😭🐠#greatbarrierreef #realityvsexpectations #hamiltonisland #devo #australiatiktok ♬ original sound - Adriana Zero (AJE) 💋
It's clear to see why her trip had upset her the way it did.
While tourism, global warming and other factors have had major effects on these types of environments, people in the comments were quick to share some important notes:
@Emma__mermaid - "Fringing reefs can get pretty stirred up in bad weather. Please dont judge the whole reef by this bad experience".
@hahsh68g - "Some is healthier than others, some places better to dive than others. But we have damaged it a LOT - and coral takes centuries to grow".
@Koutavstheworld- "Sept is best time to go & don’t judge the whole GBR off one spot, try a dif spot/company & time of year next, it can truely be magical".
So hopefully anyone who wants to go for a visit has learned from her experience and even Adriana has said that she'll be using everyone's advice when planning her net trip.
