Owls are some of the most mysterious creatures on the planet.

You don't spot these birds too often, given that they're nocturnal. Then there's the whole turning their necks in ways no one else can.

Here are some other fun facts about owls, courtesy of the National Audubon Society.

  • They have asymmetrical ears that are located at different heights on their heads, which helps them pinpoint the location of sounds.
  • A group of owls is called a parliament and originates from the C.S. Lewis novel, 'The Chronicles of Narnia'.
