There is no doubt that the digital age has made its impact on our lives in pretty significant ways.

Most of all in the introduction and growth of social media.
With all the different types of social platforms, from sharing short-form videos (TikTok) to sharing your thoughts instantly (Twitter/X), there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to get through all your social media applications, post on them, and consume the content of others.

You might think you're just going to have a quick scroll through Instagram, but the next minute you look up and you've been scrolling and double-tapping for hours.
The debate about the negatives and positives of social media will probably continue until the end of time. In the meantime, we are able to calculate the daily use of these platforms.

According to Statista.com, this is how much time is spent on average on social media in these countries.
And South Africa is sitting in fourth place with three hours and 34 minutes:
As you can also see, the global average was only two hours and 26 minutes:
This is one circumstance where being above average might not be the biggest compliment...
