SPONSORING: Jaco Deist has agreed to make Jamie’s new prosthetic leg. He will build it for R80,000, half of the original quote.
BACKGROUND:
Jamie is a 31-year-old wife and mom of an eight-year-old son. She loves her family and enjoys doing sports, much like rowing. She lost her left leg in a car crash when she was just a year old. Her leg was amputated at the knee, but this has never held her back as she truly enjoys living life to the fullest.
Jamie has had her current limb for more than 10 years, and now it needs to be replaced. Her medical aid does not cover any of the costs to replace her leg and the quote is a whopping R164,000. With that being the case, there is no way she can afford the costs right now as her savings still have a long way to go. For now, Jamie tapes her leg together in order to keep her going and to carry on with her life.
